  2. How to install 'Word Hound'
  3. ---------------------------

  5. Word Hound is supplied in 5 parts (excluding this file) :
  6.  
  7.   WordHound1 - Spark archive containing the main parts of the application.
  8.  
  9.   WordHound2 - Data file. Containing Roget's 1901 thesaurus.
  10.  
  11.   WordHound3 - Data file. Containing 1st part of dictionary.
  12.  
  13.   WordHound4 - Data file. Containing 2nd part of dictionary.
  14.  
  15.   WordHound5 - Data file. Containing 3rd part of dictionary.

  18. To be able to install the full version you will need just under 4Meg for
  19. the application, and about 2Meg more to actually perform the installation.

  21. If you don't have this much free space see the end of this file.

  25. To install Word Hound follow these steps :
  26. ========================================

  28. 1) Using Spark (or ArcFS, etc) open the 'WordHound1' archive and copy the
  29.    files to your hard disc.
  30.  
  31. 2) Open the '!WordHound' application directory that now resides on your
  32.    hard disc.
  33.  
  34. 3) Copy the remaining (data) files so that they are inside the application
  35.    directory.
  36.  
  37. 4) Rename 'WordHound2' to 'ROGET-D'.
  38.  
  39. 5) Make sure 'WordHound3', 'WordHound4' and 'WordHound5' are correctly
  40.    named. Also check you now have at least 2Meg free on your hard disc.

  42. 6) Double click on the '!Install' obey file that is inside the application
  43.    directory. Make sure you run the '!Install' obey file, and not the Install
  44.    BASIC program.

  46. 7) If you don't get any errors from step 6, and you have now a file in the
  47.    application directory which is called 'dict-d' and is 1956951 bytes long,
  48.    you can delete the following files from within the application 
  49.    directory :

  51.      'WordHound3', 'WordHound4', 'WordHound5', '!Install' and 'Install'.

  53. Word Hound is now ready to run...
  54.

  56. If you don't have 6Meg hard disc space
  57. ======================================
  58.  
  59. If you don't have enough hard disc space to install this application, there
  60. are two things you can do :
  61.  
  62. 1) Only install the thesaurus part. This requires only about 1.6Meg
  63.    of disc space :
  64.  
  65.    Follow steps 1 and 2 above.
  66.    Now delete the following : 'dict-q', 'dict-i', '!Install', 'Install'.
  67.    Copy 'WordHound2' to the application directory.
  68.    Rename 'WordHound2' to 'ROGET-D'.
  69.  
  70.    Word Hound will now work fine, but you will just be unable to get
  71.    dictionary definitions.

  73. 2) If you have 4Meg free, but just not 6Meg, you can manually install the
  74.    dictionary data file. All that '!Install' (and 'Install') do is to take
  75.    'WordHound3', 'WordHound4' and 'WordHound5' and join them (end to end)
  76.    to make 'dict-d'.
